DIRECTOR
Matthew Holmes is a multi award winning filmmaker and founder of Two Tone Pictures. Based in Adelaide, South Australia, Matthew has directed multiple feature films, shorts and TVCs.
Matthew forged his career in the 1990s as a stop-motion animator and sculptor at Adelaide's prestigious animation company Anifex Pty Ltd, working on hundreds of award winning TVCs and shorts including Home Hardware, Schmackos, Louie the Fly and Mr Reach.
His debut feature 'Twin Rivers' was completed in 2007, during which he was mentored by celebrated Australian director Rolf de Heer (Ten Canoes, The Tracker). His second feature 'The Legend of Ben Hall' started as a hugely successful crowd-funded short before launching into an independently-financed feature, with Australian director Greg Mclean (Wolf Creek, Territory) joining as Executive Producer. 'The Legend of Ben Hall' garnered multiple international awards and has been released in over 22 countries, earning critical praise for its authentic representation of the historical story of the infamous bushranger.
Matthew's third feature film 'The Cost' was released in 2023 to wide critical and audience acclaim for its unique and powerful exploration of vigilante justice. His fourth feature 'Fear Below' starring Hermione Corfield is due for release in 2025.
