The untold true story of Frank Fahy, Australia’s first undercover police officer who spent more than 20 years inflitrating Sydney’s criminal underworld, living amongst them as one of their own.

Set in Sydney between 1920 and 1940, THE SHADOW MAN chronicles the humble beginnings of Frank Fahy, the unlikely officer and family man who volunteered to infiltrate Sydney’s organised crime rackets, becoming the first official police ‘shadower’ ever appointed in Australia.

Living alone on the streets, Fahy devised the most unorthodox methods ever employed in criminal detection with unprecedented results, targeting bank robbers, safe crackers, basher gangs, escapees, counterfeiters and murderers. Fahy constantly risked his life to deliver vital information to the police, yet his commission was so top secret that he was often considered to be a criminal by other officers and often suffered in silence under their brutal treatment. His methods of shadowing were so effective that they went on to become textbook examples of ‘shadowing’ techniques across the world.

Based on factual events, THE SHADOW MAN is an action-packed, suspensful drama about Australia’s solitary hero whose story is more amazing than fiction - an ordinary man who lived an extraordinary life.
